At the end of 2020, CEFT - Center for Photography Studies in Tomar launched the “Photography and Territory” initiative, which initially materialized in the creation of the website https://fotografiaeterritorio.ceft.pt/, which intends to become a reference about projects with connections to Portugal. As part of this initiative, and alongside the Exhibition Cycle at Casa dos Cubos, a set of online conferences will continue in May, with authors of recognized notoriety and photographic path, with the next guest Luisa ferreira.
Brief note on the author:
Luísa Ferreira (Lisbon, 1961). Independent photographer, she lives and works in Lisbon. She has a Master's Degree in Design and Visual Culture - Photography Studies, from the Escola Superior de Design (IADE), a school where she is also a teacher. She started shooting professionally in the mid-1980s. As a photographer, she was part of the team of photojournalists that founded the newspaper Público and worked for the North American news agency Associated Press. She has regularly exhibited individually since 1989, developing personal projects that sometimes include book publishing.
She was part of the exhibition Au Féminin. Women Photographing Women 1849-2009, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Cultural Center, Paris, 2009. She exhibited at the Braga Image Meetings in the years 1994, 1995 and 1996 and at the Coimbra Photography Meetings in 1994. She was the First Choice in the ARCO98 Photography Courses ( Madrid) with Ether. He received the 2019 Authors Award, Visual Arts, Best Photography Work for his white exhibition, at the Monumental Gallery (Sep / Oct 2018), a project developed from the self-portrait to build the notion of identity fiction, which included the edition of an artist catalog / book with the same title. She is a Guest Adjunct Professor at the Higher School of Education at IPS (Setúbal, since 2013). She is preparing a PhD at FCSH, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
