"LUNOTICS" by João Henriques | Exhibition
description
The LUNOTICS exhibition by visual artist João Henriques, curated by Jorge Reis, showcases at Casa Azul ▲ in Torres Vedras a collection of images the artist appropriated from NASA's photographic archives. These images capture the moments when photographs went awry during the Apollo mission to the Moon. Accompanying these images is a selection of quotes uttered by prominent figures in Portuguese political and economic history in the post-April 25th era.
In both cases, whether in images or words, the symbol liberates itself from any reference, shifting into a realm where abstraction takes precedence. This results in a thought-provoking operation where the image serves as a document or memory, while the word represents power, honor, or testimony, suggesting a new timeline that is asynchronous with historical events.
This exhibition is on display at Casa Azul ▲ in Torres Vedras from November 2nd to December 31st.
Free Entrance.
